Active Adult Day Trips

 

Carbon Valley Active Adults (age 55 and older) are always on the go! Join us for trips to exciting destinations around Colorado and beyond. Register in advance for your next adventure. Make your reservations by calling the Carbon Valley Active Adults and Community Center at 303-833-3660 ext. 123, online, or stop by to see us.

Each trip description includes an exertion level number. This is a generalization of the exertion levels that participants can expect on a trip.

TRIP EXERTION LEVEL GUIDE

  1. Easy, mostly sitting
  2. Easy, mostly sitting with some walking
  3. Moderate, some walking, possible stairs
  4. Moderate to high, lots of walking, outside, some elevation
  5. High, long day, lots of walking, stairs, elevation

Get outdoors with other Active Adults. Join our outdoor walking group. Community member Glenn leads the pack and the group walks around the area at whatever your pace might be. Walking group departs from the CVPRD Community Center. Great for beginners or experienced daily walkers. Grab a cup of coffee after with the group. Registration in advance suggested not required.

VETERANS DAY COFFEE AND DONUTS

Get outdoors with other Active Adults. Join our outdoor walking group. Community member Glenn leads the pack and the group walks around the area at whatever your pace might be. LUNCH BUNCH BUS - DENVER BISCUIT COMPANY

Hop on the lunch bunch bus to Denver Biscuit Company. At DBC, everything is made in house. The biscuits, the gravy, the jam. Heck, even the pickles and local honey butter are homemade. Turns out, the more you make things from scratch, the more generous the portions get. Maybe it’s a Southern thing. Maybe it’s a Denver thing. Maybe it’s a biscuits-the-size-of-basketballs thing. But one thing’s for sure: you’re gonna wanna grab at least 4 napkins. Registration in advance required. Transportation included, dining cost not included.

DENVER ART MUSEUM

Visit the Denver Art Museum for a self led tour of Wild Things: The Art of Maurice Sendak. One of the most versatile artists of the twentieth century, Sendak is best known for picture books, especially the award-winning titles Where the Wild Things Are, In the Night Kitchen, Outside Over There, and Nutshell Library. Visitors will see unique examples of Sendak’s timeless art, and get a sense of his extraordinary skill and his deep understanding of the process of creating picture books and designs for the stage, television, and film productions. Lunch at Cafe Gio at the museum on your own. Registration in advance required. Tickets and transportation included in registration, dining cost not included.

Feeling lucky? Try your luck at Bally’s casino in Blackhawk. The bus departs from, and returns to the Community Center. Fee includes transportation only. Dining and gambling not included. $10 players card credit given by Bally’s for all advanced registrants. Registration in advance required.
