Benefits

Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District offers a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, short-term and long-term disability coverage, optional supplemental life plans, a generous time off package, and PERA retirement. 

Open enrollment occurs mid-year and all new benefit plans go into effect on July 1. New hires are allowed 30 days after their hire date to elect benefits. 

  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment 
    Eligible full-time employees are automatically enrolled in the District paid Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D).
  • PERAChoice Participation
    All employees who are paid through District payroll are eligible and automatically enrolled in PERA. Participants can choose between two types of plans: a Defined Benefit (DB) and a Defined Contribution (DC) Plan. PERA benefits are governed through the state of Colorado and administered by Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District. Employees can contact PERA at any time to discuss their retirement accounts and options available to them. 

All employees may participate in the Deferred Compensation 401(k) Plan worded in accordance with PERA. This plan is voluntary and by election only.  Paperwork must be submitted to the Finance Department. Contact PERA for more information.
