SilverSneakers

Tivity Health’s SilverSneakers® Fitness program offers physical activity, health education, and social events to help reduce health care costs driven by the physical and mental effects of aging and physician and hospital visits. As a contracted provider, the Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District (CVPRD) offers fitness equipment and signature SilverSneakers® classes which are designed specifically for older adults and taught by certified instructors. 

SilverSneakers Classic and SilverSneakers Yoga are currently being offered in-person and virtually through Zoom. SilverSneakers BOOM MOVE is offered in-person only. Reservations are required for in-person classes and may be made up to one week prior to class. There are three easy ways to register:

SilverSneakers® Class Descriptions

SilverSneakers® BOOM MOVE:
Wednesdays | 10 - 10:45 am (Starts April 7)
A higher intensity dance workout class that improves cardio endurance and burns calories. MOVE is all about breaking a sweat and having fun. The class focuses on cardio endurance by starting with simple dance moves then building into more complex sequences, bringing you a great cardio workout. 

SilverSneakers® Classic 
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays I 10 - 10:45 am
New to SilverSneakers® or exercising? This is a great place to start! Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SILVERSNEAKERS® Yoga 
Wednesdays and Fridays I 11 - 11:45 am
 A series of seated and standing yoga poses utilizing a chair for support so you can perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level.

SilverSneakers® Cardio (temporarily postponed)
This workout focuses on cardiovascular endurance. Includes easy to follow low-impact movement and upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle.

SilverSneakers® Circuit (temporarily postponed)
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SILVERSNEAKERS® ball is alternated with non-impact choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

SilverSneakers® Stability (temporarily postponed) 
SilverSneakers® Stability is designed to help you become stronger and improve balance. The movements taught in class focus on specific exercises to improve strength and power around the ankle, knee and hip joints, while improving reaction time. This class is designed for fall prevention, is suitable for nearly every fitness level and is taught primarily from a standing position. It can be adapted depending on the skill of individual participants. A chair may be used for balance and support.

Tai Chi - Returns March 23
We're excited to announce the return of Tai Chi on Tuesday, March 23 from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. 

The gentle moving poses in Tai Chi help build a healthy mind, body and spirit. This low-impact class moves through a variety of full-body exercises and leaves you feeling refreshed. Free to SilverSneakers® and CVPRD pass holders. Drop-ins pay the rec center drop-in fee (cash not accepted during the pandemic).
