Spin For a Cause

CVPRD is excited to announce the American Diabetes Association's Spin For a Cause is coming to the rec center on Saturday, June 12. Join instructors Steve Versoi and Suzi Shankweiler as they teach three awesome fitness classes.  Admission is included with CVPRD membership or the rec center drop-in fee. Donations are accepted at the event or by clicking here.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions

Kick-start your metabolism through a series of short, high-intensity intervals. Don’t like being in the seat for an hour? You’ve found the right class. Short, but intense. For all fitness levels.

Alignment based Hatha yoga is a slower paced perfect for beginners to advanced and will take you through standing and seated Asanas; while introducing students to backbends and inversions. Designed to calm your mind, body and spirit. Modifications are offered to make the class accessible to all levels of practitioners.

A Vinyasa-style class, synchronizing breath with movement. This class builds balance, strength, tones the mind and body and leaves you feeling invigorated. Focuses on alignment and safety, with modifications for advanced poses, inversions and arm balances. Expect to build heat through breath, sweat, twisting and balance. Great for beginners and challenging enough for experienced yogis.

BARRE ABOVE® (Currently canceled) 
Fusing the best of pilates, yoga, aerobics, and elements of strength training, Barre Above® delivers a results-driven workout that is not only fun and dynamic, it will sculpt your body and get you into absolutely amazing shape.

High-intensity exercise class designed to increase strength, speed, muscular and cardiovascular endurance.

BODYPUMP™ format followed by CORE™ (Formally known as CXWORX™) Strength followed by total core work. The ultimate workout!

Low-impact yoga class perfect for the new or beginning yogi looking for a peaceful and relaxing experience.

Technique, power and cardiovascular endurance training for all levels of cyclists.

The original barbell class that shapes, tones and strengthens your entire body. Great music and your choice of weight inspires you to get the results you came for—and fast! If you’re looking to improve your athletic abilities this is the class for you. GRIT Athletic focuses on strength, speed, agility and power in this explosive 30-minute high-intensity interval training format.

This 30-minute high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout improves cardiovascular fitness, increase speed and maximize calorie burn using a variety of body weight exercises and provides the challenge and intensity you need to get results fast. Cardio takes HIIT and combines it with powerful music and inspirational coaches who will be down on the floor with you, motivating you to go harder to get fit, fast!

LES MILLS CORE™ (Formally known as CXWORX™)
Build strength, stability and endurance in this ultimate scientific 30 minute core workout designed to improve definition and sports performance. Works all the muscles of the core including abdominals, glutes and back to improve balance and injury prevention. .

Les Mills cutting edge Strength is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength and build lean muscle. This workout uses a barbell, weight plate and body weight exercises to blast all major muscle groups. 

MAT PILATES (Currently canceled)
Through continuous movement, Pilates will lengthen, strengthen, sculpt and tone all major muscle groups with an emphasis on the core. Pilates helps improve posture, flexibility, and balance. This Mat Pilates class will also utilize the FitBall®, along with other tools, to achieve maximum results! Beginner to advanced welcome. 

POUND® (Currently canceled)
Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, toning up and rockin’ out! Channel your inner Rockstar with this full body cardio-jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing, and sweat dripping fun of playing the drums. 

POWER CIRCUIT (Currently canceled)
Speed up your workout using intervals and circuits for a fast-paced, high-intensity 45-minute class will increase athletic performance, strength, and stamina.

A combination of cardio, strength training, calisthenics and yoga flow all moving to the beat of fun, motivating music.

Relax, Renew and Rejuvenate! Restorative yoga focuses on alleviating stress through a receptive practice. Asanas are held for longer periods using props for support. This yoga class is great for all body types, ages, and new practitioners, as well as experienced yogis.

A higher-intensity aerobic dance workout class that improves cardio endurance and burns calories. MOVE is all about breaking a sweat and having fun. The class focuses on simple dance moves then building into more complex sequences, bringing you a great cardio workout. Class is held at our Firestone Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Suite 170 (next to Dairy Queen). In-person classes only.

SILVERSNEAKERS® CARDIO (Currently canceled)
This workout focuses on cardiovascular endurance. Includes easy to follow low- impact movement and upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle. Floor option is available in this class. Class is held at our Firestone Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Suite 170 (next to Dairy Queen). 

SILVERSNEAKERS® CIRCUIT (Currently canceled)
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers® ball is alternated with non-impact choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises. Class is held at our Firestone Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Suite 170 (next to Dairy Queen). 

New to SilverSneakers or exercising? This is a great place to start! Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Class is held at our Firestone Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Suite 170 (next to Dairy Queen). In-person and virtual.

Stability is designed to help you become stronger and improve balance. The movements taught in class focus on specific exercises to improve strength and power around the ankle, knee, and hip joints while improving your reaction time. This class is designed for fall prevention and is suitable for nearly every fitness level. It can be adapted depending on the skill of individual participants. A chair may be used for balance and support. The class is held at the Senior Center.

A series of seated and standing yoga poses utilizing a chair for support so you can perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level. Class is held at our Firestone Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Suite 170 (next to Dairy Queen).   In-person and virtual.

Warm up, focus your breath, and get your body moving with this all-levels Vinyasa style yoga class. 

Gentle moving poses and low-impact exercises help build balance, a healthy spirit, mind, and body. Class is held at our Firestone Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Suite 170 (next to Dairy Queen). In-person classes only. 

A fun, total body workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome. No dance experience required.

A modified Zumba® class for active older adults that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. Easy to follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Class is held at our Firestone Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Suite 170 (next to Dairy Queen). In-person classes only.
