The 15th anniversary of the Firecracker 5K brings several positive changes to get excited about!   Click here to register!

The new route will be revealed soon but in the meantime we can let you know that runners no longer have to dodge traffic while crossing Highway 52. This is a 5K, not Frogger! Instead, you can relax and enjoy the fresh air and scenic mountain views while running on the Firestone Trail. This is not a certified course.

Participants and spectators won't get held up by parade floats and parade traffic while trying to get home after the race. We're moving the race so it starts and ends at the Carbon Valley Regional Library. This still allows you to enjoy the annual parade and 4th at Firestone festivities plus, the race starts and ends at the same location which means you won't have to take a van ride back to your car with other stinky runners.

Life is complicated enough, why do race fees need to be? They don't! That's why we dropped our prices and made it the same price for everyone whether you live in the District or not. A race t-shirt is included with registration.

Before June 29.............................$20 (plus processing fee)
Race Day......................................$15 (plus processing fee)*
*T-shirt not included with race-day registrations

The race will be held rain or shine.
6:45 - 7:15 am........5K race day registration and runner check-in
8 am.......................5K shotgun start at Carbon Valley Regional Library
The award ceremony will take place shortly after the top runners from all divisions cross the finish line.

If you're getting up early on a holiday you better be doing something fun! An energetic DJ will ensure a good time for both runners and spectators.

We care about our community and know you do too which is why a portion of the race proceeds will be donated to The Home Front Cares, a local organization that provides emergency financial bridge and responsive support to Colorado's military members, veterans, and their families impacted by service to our Nation.

Participants will compete in the following male and female age groups:
14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-24, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 70-74, 75-7980-84, 85-89, and 90 and over.

Age group prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. Results will be posted here. Awards may be picked up at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center if you're not able to stay to accept it at the race.

This is not a certified course.
